With a trio of fantastical models channeling the spirits of these witchy legends, including MOLLY BETH MOROSSA as Sarah. Draw to a soundtrack of Halloween classic bewitching tunes.

This Halloween, explore the dark arts through women, politics and propaganda at the Tower of London. Sketch dramatic costumed figures in the Medieval Palace.

Under the watchful eye of guest artist Matt Valentine be inspired by 16th Century woodcut illustrations depicting witch rituals. Be prepared to be put under a spell as you experience the eerie atmosphere of the Tower at night. With model Amy Kingsmill as one of our witches.

Art Macabre returns to the Tower after hours! Explore chiaroscuro techniques with guest artist Frank Gambino. Capture shadows and sketch England's finest example of Norman architecture inside the Romanesque chapel of St John the Evangelist in the White Tower. Illuminated figures from the Tower's past will pose within its walls. This event is sure to be a magical and atmospheric drawing experience, with live music from Carmen Mon Oxide.

Experience a night in Lower Manhattan and discover experimental artist studios, creative activities, talks, film screenings and secret bars, then dance until late to live bands and DJs.We take inspiration from Jasper Johns’s notable collaborations with Merce Cunningham, John Cage, Andy Warhol and Bruce Nauman, who epitomise the avant-garde scene through their developments in choreography, composition, performance and art.

Think fluxus festivals, early conceptual art, experimental compositions, modern dance performances and happenings. A drop-in drawing event with Art Macabre, open to all ticketholders to the rest of the event.

DRAWING BLOOD: LIFE UNCUT

PART OF LIFE UNCUT festival with Science Gallery.

In this live art life drawing session, Art Macabre invite you to explore the taboos associated with blood, pain and endurance. Learn about the history of socially sanctioned and pathological models of blood and bleeding in an introduction by historian of medicine Sarah Chaney, before witnessing a performance of ‘Bloom’ by artist Amy Kingsmill, in which the artist pins white rose petals to her face with hypodermic needles. While drawing or writing poses from this slow motion work, viewers will be asked to consider the potential beauty in sacrifice, and the full spectrum of feeling associated with extreme endurance. Followed by the opportunity to share creative responses and discussion with the artist Amy Kingsmill and Sarah Chaney.

Inspired by recent film adaptations and classics alike, pick up your red pencil and inks and capture these creepy characters and scenes in your sketches.

Art Macabre will revive our sell out Twin Peaks themed death drawing salons as part of TWIN PEAKS FESTIVAL this October. A must for any Twin Peaks fans, as part of the festival weekend ticketholders can draw iconic scenes and characters from the cult series.  Led by graphic artist Jon Attfield, an hour long drawing event will take place on both the Saturday and Sunday. Art Macabre takes inspiration from expiration. A classic death drawing salon.  Create portraits of life and death together. Sketch a skeleton posing with a nude human figure, as they dance the danse macabre together. Flesh and bone.

This class is about creating your own unique “morte couture” Mexicana headdress. Taking inspiration from Frida’s signature style and design, you’ll make a fun textural piece to wear in your hair. Get playful and experiment with pompoms, yarn braiding and cactus customisation.

A sociable and spirited late night crafting event, with hot Latina tunes playing all evening and tequila for everyone! Draw on your darkest unibrow and practice your communist manifesto with your secret Russian lover, or just come on down to The London Loom and get your Frida craft on.

Mourning and Melancholia: Death Drawing with Art Macabre at Freud Museum

A special collaboration with the Freud Museum. Explore and draw the complex web of emotions associated with these two states of loss, and their links to depression. Nude and veiled models will pose throughout the museum, presenting poetic tableaux and symbols portraying absence and loss. Sketch model Freyia and powerful hair symbolism and performance, inspired by Victorian mourning jewellery. Draw their presence and explore ideas of negative space and absence through your sketches too. With poetry readings by William Blake and quotes from Freud's essay "Mourning and Melancholia" published 100 years ago.

A few days after May the Fourth aka Star Wars Day, on the Sixth of May (or should that be SITH of May?) we host a tribute to STAR WARS! Join us on a voyage around the galaxy, to draw on the forces of light and dark and enter the fantastical world of Princess Leia and an enemy to defeat. We honour Carrie Fisher's awesome legacy with model and co-founder of Secret Drawing Club Louise Hughes posing for us nude and in costume as Leia. Expect action poses and THAT gold bikini!
