The biggest and most exciting RA Late so far! To celebrate the Summer Exhibition and the opening of the sparkling new Royal Academy, this event promises to be a wonderland of creative participatory fun, magic and spectacle that we are thrilled to be part of once more. The programme is bursting at the seams and tickets are very nearly sold out!
As part of a modern pleasure garden theme, in the RA's recently reopened historic Life Drawing Room we shall present illicit sensual marionettes. A cheeky peepshow styled puppet show, revealing costumed and nude characters to be sketched across the night. Think Tim Walker meets Angela Carter.
Our friends at Wildlife Drawing are also offering the chance to sketch butterflies and bunnies too! So lots of drawing fun to be had across the event.
We return for the 3rd year to Citadel Festival - this time in a new West London location in Gunnersbury Park.

ART MACABRE'S PAPER THEATRE: THE TEMPEST Use your imagination to create fantastical costumes, accessories and props for our life models- all from paper! Dress our lifesize paper dolls and watch them create tableaux vivant inspired by the magic and drama of Shakespeare's The Tempest. You get to play theatre director, set designer and scenic artist! A family friendly, all ages creative workshop event.

Our now annual celebration of Frida Kahlo, one of the world's leading artists. To coincide with the opening week of the V&A's blockbuster Frida Kahlo exhibition, we present a life drawing exploration of the vision and legacy of Frida.
Explore her unique Surrealist vision of pain, pleasure and passion. We will have two models, posing as contrasting aspects of Frida Kahlo's character and viewpoint. Recreating some of her self-portraits and paintings with flesh, flora, fruit and skulls.
From "Exquisite Corpse" drawing game warm ups to collage materials available to capture the colourful expressiveness of her art, we will do our best to conjure up the weird and wonderful world of Frida Kahlo at this workshop.
Grab a mezcal from the bar upstairs and sketch to a soundtrack of Mexican folk, jazz beloved by her and mariachi music.

Inspired by the infamous annual celebration that took place near Brook Street for most of the 18th century, we’re bringing back the May Fayre for the 2018 Museums at Night festival.
An extra special evening of live Baroque music, dramatic performances and interactive activities to celebrate the history of Mayfair.
Explore and draw the theme of masturbation, eroticism, desire and fantasy after hours within the Freud Museum. Nude figures will pose throughout the museum's domestic settings, celebrating and challenging our perceptions of the theme of self-pleasure, diverse sexualities and sexual health. Art Macabre invites you to examine, through your illustrations and mark making, our complex sexual, erotic and intimate encounters with ourselves. Capture unique snapshots of intimate moments as our model tableaux give playful private moments a public platform to be observed and sketched.
There will be the opportunity to also enjoy the Solitary Pleasures exhibition featuring work by artists Shannon Bell, VALIE EXPORT, Chantal Faust, Antony Gormley, Jordan McKenzie, Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens, Emma Talbot, and Michelle Williams Gamaker.

Back by popular demand, Art Macabre curate an evening of celestial life drawing in the Painted Hall.
Sketch models Peter Mitchell and Tasha. Observe and draw exquisite details from the painted ceiling as we take you on a journey of celestial discovery. Enjoy a dreamy soundtrack whilst sketching celestial bodies and myths of the sun, moon, stars and zodiacs.
Seating will be provided but for the best view of the ceiling feel free to bring a cushion, yoga mat or sleeping bag to lie back and enjoy the view. All drawing materials and paper included.

The Anti Diet Riot Club and Art Macabre are teaming up to bring a fresh and fierce focus to life drawing in London! This class is all about celebrating the body positive revolution and exploring how life drawing can promote positive body image in drawers/models alike. It aims to represent all shapes and sizes in our models of choice AND through opening up the floor to volunteers who may want to try life modelling for the first time.

Both inspired by artist Joan Jonas and her experimental, gestural drawing techniques. UNIQLO TATE LATE: Tonight’s programme celebrates performance and video pioneer Joan Jonas and her current exhibition at Tate Modern. Celebrate St Patrick's Day by sketching redheaded sirens and witches. Art Macabre explores the historical symbolism of the ginger maned person. Perceived as witches and vampires to heralded as objects of magic and power, those born with red hair have long been associated with symbolism and strange properties prescribed to their fiery locks.
Draw two redheaded models as we look at their role of siren or monster. With a soundtrack of Irish folk tunes and some famous red haired musicians. Sip on a whisky from the bar upstairs and enjoy an alternative way to mark St Patrick's Day.

Join Art Macabre at a special RA Late event, this time exploring the decadence and drama of Charles I's royal Masques. The RA will become the King’s Whitehall Palace for the night, hosting dancing and extravagant feasts for a decadent night of courtly ritual.
Think spectacular Inigo Jones-inspired courtly masques, royal portraiture and political gossip in the Privy Lodgings, as the RA is transformed for a night of art, music, immersive experiences and creative activities.
