PART OF LIFE UNCUT festival with Science Gallery.
In this live art life drawing session, Art Macabre invite you to explore the taboos associated with blood, pain and endurance. Learn about the history of socially sanctioned and pathological models of blood and bleeding in an introduction by historian of medicine Sarah Chaney, before witnessing a performance of ‘Bloom’ by artist Amy Kingsmill, in which the artist pins white rose petals to her face with hypodermic needles. While drawing or writing poses from this slow motion work, viewers will be asked to consider the potential beauty in sacrifice, and the full spectrum of feeling associated with extreme endurance. Followed by the opportunity to share creative responses and discussion with the artist Amy Kingsmill and Sarah Chaney.
